Senior Georgian College students in the Graphic Design program will partner with nonprofits in Simcoe County and Muskoka this fall to gain experience working directly with clients. Applications from these organizations are now welcome to participate in the program.

“It’s been a tremendous win-win partnership for students and agencies,” said Professor George Mashinter, who oversees the initiative. “Over the past seven years, third-year design students at Georgian College have provided thousands of hours of free design services to more than 100 not-for-profit organizations in Ontario.

Working with the Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County marketing team to spread the word to their industry partners, Mashinter hopes to fill vacancies on its project slate as soon as possible to ensure returning students can get started. early once classes resume in September. .

“Students have worked on a variety of projects over the years, including marketing and promotional artwork, event materials, and other informational materials,” Mashinter continued. “While we are currently accepting new projects, interested organizations should be quick – the number of projects we can accept is limited and is considered on a first-come, first-served basis.”

To book a project directly, associations can complete the online form here.

Feedback from participating organizations has been overwhelmingly positive, according to Mashinter. One client said, “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Georgian College students on graphic design projects. They’re professional and enthusiastic, and we think it’s a great experience for students to prepare them for working with companies after graduation. »
