Lancaster County Libraries to Host Book Sales in October | Together

For those in need of fresh reading material for the fall, three Lancaster County libraries are holding book sales in October.

• Friends of the Lancaster Public Library will hold its fall book sale Oct. 7-9 at the Book Resort, 225 N. Marshall St., Lancaster.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, which is a half-price day.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Lancaster Public Library.

Thousands of used books, records, DVDs and audiobooks will be for sale. More than half of the items will cost between 50 cents and $2.

Cash, checks and all major credit cards accepted.

The adjacent Marshall Street bookstore, also run by the group of friends to raise funds for the library, will be open during the sale.

There is free parking at the Book Resort and in the surrounding streets.

Ephrata Public LibraryThe annual fall book sale runs October 21-25.

The benefit sale will take place in the Library’s Multipurpose Room, 550 S. Reading Road, Ephrata, and in the Community Commons — between the Wawa and the main library building — at 560 S. Reading Road.

Used books will include fiction, non-fiction and children’s books; there will also be CDs, DVDs, audio books, video games and puzzles for sale.

All proceeds will benefit the Ephrata Public Library. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

The opening night of the sale is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21. There is a $7 admission fee that night only for the first opportunity to purchase books.

Other hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 22; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 23; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 24 (fill a bag for $7); and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25 (fill a bag for $5).

The library is also looking for volunteers to help with the sale.

• Books, barbecues and treasure troves of bargains will all be on sale Saturday, October 22 at Quarryville Library Center357 Buck Road, Quarryville.

The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Pennington Family Conference Room and the CX Carlson Cultural Hall.

Used books will be on sale in the Pennington Room.

The Wakefield Lions Club will serve barbecue chicken; $8 includes half a chicken, Herr’s potato chips and a bottle of water. And for dessert, whoopie pies will be sold separately.

Treasures donated by community members will also be sold at an indoor garage sale. Most items are chargeable, although some have suggested minimum donations.
