Chelsea District Library Used Book Sales / Donation Resume

The Friends of Chelsea District Library is very pleased to reopen its doors for the sale of books. Proceeds from our sales support many of the library’s most popular programs, such as the Summer Reading Program, Purple Rose Theater Readings, the Midwestern Literary Walk, and SongFest.

Saturday June 26 will be the first sale of used books since the pandemic interrupted sales in March 2020. This first sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your own bag or fill a grocery-size bag with books for $ 5.

Buyers can enter through the front door of the library and proceed to the basement as with previous sales. No special arrangement is required. However, masks are mandatory for all buyers in the basement. Please respect this continued precaution. Vendors will also wear masks.

The inventory for this sale is extensive since it has not been purchased for over a year. There are many great selections of fiction, including detective novels and novels. Non-fiction selections in history and biography abound. Books for children, youth and adolescents are a good source for summer reading program selections.

Starting MONDAY June 28, Friends will accept donated materials. Please be kind and stagger your donations so that we are not immediately overwhelmed. Donated materials can be placed in the bins under the grand staircase on the first floor of the library.

A reminder of MATERIALS WE DO NOT ACCEPT – NO VHS or cassettes, NO vinyl, NO encyclopedias, dictionaries or textbooks over five years old. NO Reader’s Digest Condensed books or Time-Life series.

Friends recycle over 20% of all donated materials due to poor condition. You can help by not bringing these materials to the library. Recycle them yourself, both hardcover books and broken paperbacks, at WWRA collection facilities located throughout the community.

We look forward to welcoming our buyers to our sale on Saturday June 26 at 10am. Good shopping!
