BOOK DONATIONS REQUIRED FOR FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALES | Health

Friends of the Library (FOL) organizations that support Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) are asking for donations of lightly used books, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks so they can replenish their inventory and continue their sales of books and their fundraising efforts. Donations can be made to any SPFL location during opening hours.

FOL groups have a long history of running continuous book sales in libraries, as well as special book sales events periodically throughout the year. These book sales are a primary source of fundraising for organizations.

Funds raised through the sale of Friends of the Library books have supported special programs for adults and children, cultural events, and staff development and continuing education programs for library employees.

In addition to books, DVDs and CDs, donations of lightly used vinyl records, Blu-ray discs and puzzles are also welcome.

Items that cannot be accepted include cassettes, VHS tapes, encyclopedias, legal statutes, case books, National Geographic and some magazines, or books that are damp, moldy, dirty, or infested with insects.

Friends organizations are tax-exempt 501 © (3) companies. Donations and contributions to Friends are tax deductible.

Friends of the Library groups are completely voluntary, non-profit organizations. Each library has its own group of library friends, and new members are always welcome.

Members of the Friends of the Library support the library in a number of ways. Some members can donate their time and expertise to support, promote and market their librarian.ies, as well as to increase the resources of their libraries. They do this through advocacy and fundraising (usually selling books).

For those who are short on time, just becoming a member and paying an annual membership fee is a wonderful way to show support for the library.
